Introduction To Lifting Electromagnets

   With optimised computer design, reasonable structure, low self-weight,large suction power and low energy consumption, the operation of it is safe and reliable, installation and maintenance is convienient as well.
   Excitation coil is processed by special technology, which improves the electrical and mechanical properties of the coil. The heat-resistant grade of the insulating material reaches C level,which increases the service life.
​​​​​​​   With adoption of unique heat insulation method, the temperature of the lifted material is increased from 600℃ to 680℃, which expands the scope of application.

How Lifting Electromagnets Work

The principle of operation of lifting electromagnets is based on Ampere's law and Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. According to Ampere's law, when electric current passes through a coil, it produces a magnetic field around it. And according to Faraday's Law of Electromagnetic Induction, when a conductor moves in a magnetic field, it generates an induced electromagnetic force at its ends.

Frequently Asked Questions

  •    Power failure: First check whether the power supply of the lifting electromagnet is normal. Please confirm whether the power supply is normal by checking whether the power cord is damaged or loose, and whether the power outlet is working. If the power supply is normal but the electromagnetic chuck still cannot absorb objects, the coil of the electromagnetic chuck may be damaged and the coil needs to be replaced.

       Coil failure: If the power supply of the lifting electromagnet is normal but it cannot absorb materials, maybe there are something wrong with the coil . Please check whether the coil is normal by using a multimeter to detect the resistance value of the coil. If the resistance value exceeds the normal range, the coil is damaged and needs to be replaced.

       Failure of the lifting electromagnet surface: If the power supply and coil of thelifting electromagnet are normal, but materials cannot be absorbed, there may be a problem with the lifting electromagnet surface. Please confirm whether the lifting electromagnet surface needs to be replaced by checking whether there are scratches or wear on the surface of the lifting electromagnet. If there are scratches on the surface of the lifting electromagnet, please use sandpaper to polish and repair it; if the surface of the lifting electromagnet is severely worn, it needs to be replaced.
  •    Power failure: Check whether the power supply of the lifting electromagnet is normal. If the power supply is normal but the lifting electromagnet cannot release the material, the relay of power may fail and the relay needs to be replaced.

       Control circuit failure: If the power supply of the lifting electromagnet is normal but the materials cannot be released, the control circuit may fail. The cause of the fault can be confirmed by checking whether components such as switches, relays and fuses in the control circuit are functioning properly. If a component is found to be damaged, the corresponding component needs to be replaced.

       Gap of lifting electromagnet failure: If the power supply and control circuit of the lifting electromagnet are normal, but the materials cannot be released, it may due to too small lifting electromagnet gap. The problem can be solved by adjusting the lifting electromagnet gap.
  •    Overload failure: If there is overload failure of the lifting electromagnet during lifting, it may be because the weight of the lifting electromanet exceeds its capacity. In this case, please stop it in time, unload the object, and donot restart it until it return to normal.

       Over-temperature failure: Long-time use of the lifting electromagnet will cause its temperature rise. If the temperature is too high, it may affect the working effect or even damage the lifting electromagnet. In this case, please stop the lifting electromagnet, and donot restart it until it cool down.

       The lifting electromagnet cannot be started: If the lifting electromagnet cannot be started, the control switch may be fail. In this case, please check whether the switch is working normally. If the switch is found to be damaged, it needs to be replaced.

A Numerical and Experimental Study on the Solidification Structure of Fe–Cr–Ni Steel Slab Casting by Roller Electromag‐ netic Stirring

We present a segmented coupling model for slab casting by roller electromagnetic stirring(R‐EMS) of electromagnetic, flow, heat transfer, and solidification behavior based on magnetohy‐drodynamics and solidification theory. A three‐dimensional (3‐D) segmented coupling model that included electromagnetic, flow, and heat transfer elements was established using Ansoft Maxwell and ANSYS Fluent software. The effects of the roller sleeve, magnetic shielding ring, coil, core, mol‐ ten steel, and air domain on the electromagnetic, thermal and flow fields were studied numerically.
